Ready Readers

Ready Readers takes place on the campus of the local elementary school during school hours.  Here, adults are paired with students who are below proficient in reading skills. Each volunteer is asked to spend at least thirty minutes to an hour, once a week, with the children.  The results of this program are astounding.  Most of the students who are served have had increased attendance, their behavior improved greatly, and disciplinary office visits decreased. Ready Readers is extremely effective in that the standardized test scores and grades of the students served thus far were improved by at least two grade levels.
